Cumberland Ellis Property Team Co-host Successful Seminar on Service Charge Recovery

On Wednesday 21 April Cumberland Ellis’ property team joined forces with accountants Rayner Essex and barristers Thirty Three Bedford Row to provide some illumination and guidance for seminar delegates on the topic of negotiating one’s way through the residential service charge labyrinth. The seminar took place at Cumberland Ellis’ premises and was very well attended by over 60 guests.
The seminar was aimed at property managers, landlords and management companies and examined the issue of service charge recovery from the different perspectives of lawyers, barristers and accountants. Chan D’Souza, head of Cumberland Ellis’ Property Disputes Department, provided delegates with an overall guide to lease documentation. Daniel Dovar, barrister from Thirty Three Bedford Row, presented on issues regarding statutory intervention in the recovery of service charges and Tim Sansom, a senior partner from Rayner Essex, examined service charge recovery from the accountant’s perspective.
Cumberland Ellis Property Partner, Martin Ackland, who introduced and chaired the proceedings, commented “the evening was a great success: the turnout was fantastic and the topic was clearly a popular choice.
